The Answers
What is Glitter, and why do you call yourselves that?
Glitter is the one and only official fanclub for actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth. We were founded in January of 2004 by former coordinator Jaime Morris. It was intended to be a fun little gathering place for fans to talk about Kristin and her work, and maybe pitch in together every once in a while and contribute to a worthy cause in Kristin’s name. What began as twenty good-hearted folks on a newsgroup has grown into a community of over eighteen hundred members, who have helped to raise more than fifty-six thousand dollars for various charitable causes – but more on that later!
The name “Glitter” is one that was tossed around near the fanclub’s founding. Fanclub members compiled several suggestions, then put them to a vote, and “Glitter” won out above the others. It was so long ago that we can’t quite remember the exact reasons why, aside from the fact that Kristin is often very liberal with her sparkly makeup and moisturizer, and that it is part of the title of one of her favorite pieces to perform, “Glitter and Be Gay”, which is from the musical operetta, CANDIDE.
What does “official” mean?
"Official" means that Glitter is recognized both by Kristin Chenoweth and her management. All of the information on this site is cleared through a number of channels, and several people on Kristin’s staff, including her manager and publicist, normally approve any events we sponsor. In short, we are the one-stop shop for any Kristin Chenoweth fan. We support her career, we help publicize her upcoming events, and we provide her with a specialized link to her fans. To members, we provide a fun atmosphere, the chance to meet new people, some exclusive-you-heard-it-here-first information, and special Kristin-Gear you won't find anywhere else. We are also the only place you'll find Kristin Chenoweth autographs that are 100% guaranteed authentic, straight from Kristin herself.
Are there membership dues?
As of now, there are no membership dues. As the fanclub continues to grow, this may change. If the need to charge dues arises, we will be sure to let all of you know, both here on the website, and on the forum and newsgroup.
What’s with all these "projects"?
The fanclub charity projects are part of what we think makes Glitter so unique. Raising money for worthy causes has always been a part of Glitter, as it is something that is important to both the fanclub staff and Kristin herself. We have been lucky to have a community of incredibly generous members who have opened their hearts and wallets again and again, and every time a new project arises we are blown away by our totals. To date, the fanclub has raised over $56,000 -- a pretty impressive sum for an organization started by a couple of college students!
The first organization we focused our efforts toward was Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, an organization that is particularly special to both Kristin and Jaime. Currently, our "default charites," if you will, are the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Both organizations are active players in the struggle to find a cure for cancer, something close to the hearts of many of GLITTER's members and staff. We have also raised money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the American Red Cross, and Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP). We are also annual participants in the NYC AIDS Walk – always a favorite event of ours – benefiting the Gay Men’s Health Crisis and other organizations. For a full list of our past projects, check out the Glitter Projects page!
What’s the current project?
Right now we are between big projects, but we are already prepping for our annual auction. Stay tuned for more info!
And as always, we offer autographed photos of Kristin for a charitable donation of $10. For information on our current charity, and how to order your very own autographed photo, check out the Autograph Info page.
Can I start an official Kristin Chenoweth fanclub too, and can we be affiliated?
Unfortunately, no. As Glitter is run in cooperation with Kristin’s management, and everything has to be cleared through them, it would be counterproductive, not to mention a lot of extra work, to have more than one official fanclub in operation. However, we know many of you out there have some fabulous web skills, and there is no reason Kristin shouldn’t have more than one web site devoted to her and all the great work she does. We encourage all of you who have the desire and the means to create unofficial fansites. As for affiliation, because Glitter is an official fanclub, we have to be very careful about things like content, copyright, and what we do and do not endorse. Sadly, that means we can’t link to all of your websites or online groups, but you can add them to the list of Kristin-related links compiled by the fans at the newsgroup homepage.
How about if I raise money for charity? Can we be affiliated for that?
Again, sadly no. Part of being careful what we endorse means that we have to be able to easily oversee anything that bears our name or lists us as an affiliate. Even if you want to send all your charitable donations to/through us, the answer is still, unfortunately, no. Because Glitter is not a registered non-profit group (there is a lot of red-tape and legal hubbub involved in obtaining non-profit status), we cannot accept any checks made out directly to “Glitter,” and for legal reasons, we do not accept cash, nor do we accept checks made out to any of the individual staff members. All charitable donations are done by check or money order, made out directly to the charity we are currently supporting. As such, sending any donations through us would just be a waste of postage.
Can I use your design/images/text on my Kristin site?
No. Absolutely not. All of the content on Glitter, unless specifically noted otherwise, is copyrighted to Glitter and owned by us. This means all of the text (including Kristin's Blog), the layout and design, and everything else you see on this forum and on the website. If we find out that your site is trying to reproduce content from our site, or that your site is using portions of content from our site in a misleading way, we will ask you to remove the content, and may restrict your use of our forum and newsgroup.
Who’s on staff and how can I join them?
For detailed info on the GStaff, check out the staff info page! In short, the staff is helmed by coordinator and webmaster Aly Hagen, along with a wonderful team of moderators and volunteers who help us keep up with our newsgroup and forum. Our moderators can be easily identified on the forum by checking out the moderator assignment for each topic, or the user titles beneath their avatars.
Our staff is currently full, but on the off-chance that we are in need of new staff members, we will make announcements on the forum and newsgroup with information on how to apply. However, we should point out that full-time staffers are handpicked by the current staff, for a number of practical reasons. The only time we take applications is when we are in need of temporary moderators, or any other short-term positions.
What’s the difference between the newsgroup and the forum?
The newsgroup (Kristin_chenoweth_fanclub@yahoogroups.com) is the original home of Glitter, and if you have a good amount of time on your hands, you’re all welcome to go back and read some of the original posts to see how this whole operation began. Since then, Glitter has expanded to include the website you see right now, and the forum. As such, the newsgroup is now news-only, meaning no idle chit-chat – it just clogs up people’s inboxes. As such, we have made the newsgroup essentially announcement-only, and we use it as a quick way to send out reminders and updates about Kristin's appearances or upcoming events/projects.
All chat should be directed to the forum, which is the liveliest and most happening part of Glitter. The forum houses a current schedule of Kristin’s upcoming projects that usually far extends the one on the front page of this website, along with information on the fanclub’s current project (if there is one), Glitter’s customer service department, off-topic boards for chatting about everything from Reality TV to Broadway to what you ate for dinner last night, and a most impressive thread entitled “You Know You’re Obsessed with Kristin Chenoweth When…” in the Kristin Chat folder.
How can I be a forum moderator?
All our moderator positions are currently filled. However, we do occasionally add part-time moderators during the summer months when the forum is particularly active. When those or any permanent positions become available, we will make an announcement on the forum and the newsgroup like we would with any temporary staff position.
What constitutes a bootleg/copyrighted recording, and what is Glitter’s stance on them?
A copyrighted recording is any copy – whether video, audio, or image – of an event or program that is owned by another entity and not released for public consumption. This includes appearances on talk shows, television episodes, or DVD/film. A bootleg is any illegally obtained audio, video, or photo taken by an individual at an event where such things are prohibited. This includes audio or video recordings of concerts, theatre performances, or photos taken of such a performance.
Now, we’re going to put this in caps so you don’t miss it: BOOTLEGS AND OTHER COPYRIGHTED RECORDINGS ARE STRICTLY FORBIDDEN AT GLITTER. THIS INCLUDES THE MESSAGE BOARD, AND THE NEWSGROUP. THIS INCLUDES ANY VIDEOS ON SITES SUCH AS YOUTUBE.COM THAT IN ANY WAY INCORPORATE ANYTHING THAT VIOLATES COPYRIGHT.
Got it? Good.
Where have I seen Kristin Chenoweth?
Most likely on television – she is currently a regular on ABC's new critically-acclaimed series, PUSHING DAISIES. Previously, she appeared regularly on the final two season’s of NBC’s hit drama, THE WEST WING, and also did a series of commercials for Old Navy during the winter of 2005. On the big screen you may have seen her in the comedies RV, co-starring Robin Williams, Jeff Daniels, and Cheryl Hines; 2004’s BEWITCHED, co-starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell; or this past holiday season in DECK THE HALLS co-starring Danny DeVito, Kristin Davis, and Matthew Broderick. She also had a memorable role in 2006's RUNNING WITH SCISSORS, as Annette Benning's lover. Her last turn on the New York stage was in Roundabout Theatre's revival of THE APPLE TREE at Studio 54 and the City Center Encores! original production of STAIRWAY TO PARADISE, but she is probably best known for her portrayals of Glinda the Good in the Broadway smash WICKED, for which she was nominated for a Best Leading Actress Tony Award, and her Tony-winning performance as Sally Brown in YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN.
How many albums does she have, and where can I get them?
Kristin has recorded two solo albums on the Sony Classical recording label. Her first album, LET YOURSELF GO, is a collection of old-time Broadway tunes, along with one of her signature songs, “The Girl in 14G.” Showing her versatility, her second album features inspirational and country tunes, along with another Kristin standard, “Taylor the Latte Boy.” Both albums are available for purchase at any major record store, or can be purchased online from Sony Classical. She is hoping to record album number three as soon as she can find the time. When we get more info on this one, we’ll be sure to let you know!
Will Kristin be returning to Broadway?
As of now, there are no plans for Kristin to return to Broadway, but she has often said that she feels most at home on stage, so we have no doubt she'll make it back to the Great White Way sooner or later. Though it is not on Broadway, Kristin will be returning to the New York Stage to perform with the Metropolitan Opera in their 2010 production of GHOSTS OF VERSAILLES. She will also be reprising the role of Cunegonde in Leonard Bernstein's CANDIDE with the English National Opera in London this June and July.
Will Kristin Chenoweth ever return to WICKED ?
There are currently no plans for Kristin to return to WICKED, in any of its productions both in the US and overseas. Unfortunately for those who missed her in the show, she has moved on to new creative projects and it doesn’t look as if she’ll be returnning to the merry old land of Oz.
Does Kristin visit Glitter/post on the forums?
While Kristin is now registered on the forum so that she may pass along special messages to the group, Kristin's hectic schedule does not allow her to read all the posts or reply to any posters via the forum. All messages posted here by Kristin Chenoweth are posted with the help of the moderators. Please do not PM Kristin's forum ID, because you will not get a response – all messages to her ID are sent to the fanclub coordinator email, not Kristin Chenoweth herself.
Kristin also has a fanclub blog, in which she occasionally posts to communicate with her fans.
Do you know Kristin personally?
The majority of the Glitter staff has met Kristin at least once, and the Glitter coordinators have a “professional friendship” with her. In short, while we don’t sit around braiding each others’ hair and sipping cocktails, a few of us are friendly acquaintances of Kristin. But honestly, we spend more time talking to her management.
How can I meet Kristin Chenoweth?
The short answer: not through us. We encourage you to go to the stage door and wait after her concerts and performances (you’ll usually see us there too!), but we can’t introduce people to Kristin, or give them special opportunities to meet her, outside of Glitter events. Any requests for backstage visits sent to the fanclub staff will be ignored.
Can you give me her contact info?
Absolutely not. Any private contact info the staff may have access to, whether Kristin’s or her management’s, is just that: private. We absolutely, positively will not share any of it. Not with anyone, not for any reason. So don’t ask. If you want to contact Kristin, the address to send fanmail can be found further down on this page.
Will Kristin sign autographs after a concert/performance?
If at all possible, Kristin will come out the stage door after a performance to sign autographs and take pictures (though occasionally a no-flash rule will be enforced – the bright lights give her migraines). To locate the stage door in your venue, simply ask an usher or other venue staff member, and they should be able to point you in the right direction. Please keep in mind, though, that prior circumstances will sometimes make it impossible for Kristin to linger after a show, and if that happens at your event, you are encouraged to send her a fan letter telling her how great the show was (address below), or purchase an autographed 8x10 directly from us.
Where can I send Kristin fan mail and will she respond?
Please direct all fan mail to the following address, with a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) included:
Kristin Chenoweth
c/o Dannielle Thomas
Untitled Entertainment
1801 Century Park East
Suite 700
Los Angeles, CA 90067
Because of the large volume of mail she receives, Kristin cannot personally respond to each and every letter, but she does read them all, and tries, if possible, to respond with a personalized autograph. But once again, due to her extremely high volume of mail, this is often not possible.
Can you forward a message to Kristin for me?
Nope, we can’t. We at Glitter have a strict policy of not operating as a messenger service between individual fans and Kristin. If you want to send Kristin a message/gift/etc., mail it to the address listed above. Any fanmail, gifts, etc. sent to the fanclub PO Box will not make it to Kristin.
How can I get an autographed photo?
To purchase an autographed photo, send an email to autographs.glitterstaff@gmail.com telling us how many photos you would like to purchase, and we’ll reply with where to send the check, who to address it to, and how much to send ($10 per photo).
What’s she doing next?
Kristin is currently a regular on the new ABC series PUSHING DAISIES. Kristin plays Olive Snook, the waitress at main character Ned's pie shop, and part of a love triangle! (Note: Due to the writers' strike, PUSHING DAISIES is on hiatus indefinitely. However, there is no indication that the show will be cancelled, so keep your eyes peeled and ears open for any news on the show's return!)
During her hiatus from PUSHING DAISIES, Kristin will be filming a new movie, FOUR CHRISTMASES, co-starring Reese Witherspoon. The movie is due out in time for the next holiday season.
She will also be performing with the English National Opera this June and July, reprising her role of Cunegonde in Leonard Bernstein's CANDIDE.
For more detailed info on her upcoming projects, check out our Kristin’s Upcoming Projects page.
